What do you think about the graphics?

People complained about the graphics on JttT. Test it and tell me how I can improve

That is ok, but actually you can improove something. Animation is nice but stone tiles and main menue need more attention.
You can write me PM, I think I can help you.

Thanks. Main menu and map need a lot of work, I know.
Sure, I'll pm you know

Exactly what is the problem with the graphics? This. It looks like many people's "my first game" on Newgrounds. The colours are jarring, the assets look quite out of place, and it all doesn't gel quite right.

First of all, go for an art style you *like*. And I mean, REALLY like. Newgrounds has a game called Goin' Up which has a very cartoony, brash and bright and colourful art style; everything is in keeping. The background is blurrier than the foreground, and everything catches your eye.

Whom are you trying to take inspiration from, with this game?

And more to the point, what sort of feel do you want it to take?

Would you like it to be cute? Go with pastel colours. Draw it like Kirby's Adventure for the NES; that thing has all sorts of cute things down to the outlines, the shapes of the blocks and backgrounds.

Would you like it to be jarring a la Harley Quinn? Then go for brighter versions of the cute pastel colours. Have some bright lime or magenta slime splatted on the hills, or something.

Basically, you're not just doing mechanics here. You are also giving us, with your game, a look and feel. You need to think about what this look and feel is. It's not enough for you to basically say "oh my game is just about jumping all the way to the top" because that's not quite enough to make it shine. And that's what we're all looking for, a game that needs to shine. It'll shine, not only with good programming (of course, that's a good start) but also a cohesive look and feel.

Haven't I said 'look and feel' enough times already? But hopefully, you get the idea.

Hmmm... You are right. Thank you. I'll see what I can do
